In 2017, BCL had over 80,000 building visits, over 19,000 computer sessions, over 130,000 items borrowed, and over 400 programs. We look forward to these numbers increasing as we strive to maximize our potential in our new space. With a larger space in which to work, the BCL has been able to expand services in order to continue to fulfill its mission. The library offers free Wi-Fi and computer use, low cost copy and print service and free scanning. We also provide tax forms and we are a Passport Acceptance Facility.
Program attendance has grown noticeably since the move to the new building. Recently offered programs for adults have included computer classes, job skills training, retirement planning, book discussion groups, and art classes. Teens find a safe place to relax with friends and try new activities. We host game nights, crafting opportunities and other interest-driven programs. Families with young children benefit from literacy programs that engage children's senses and their curiosity. Our most popular programs for children include the Lapsit Storytime, Toddler Storytime, Pre-school Storytime and Storytime in the Orchard at Frecon Farms, Boyertown.
Each year, BCL provides free summer programming to help prevent summer learning loss for children and teens. Our summer programs also promote early literacy and encourage adults to read as well. This year over 700 children and teens participated in the summer reading program!
